Snapshot of people and houses in 1966

This booklet was produced in 1966 by Brigadier John Packard. Following his Army career, he and his family lived in the Agents House next door to the White Horse pub. The booklet has been passed on to the village by his son, Simon Packard, and gives a "snap shot" in time.

The entry for Glendower on page 12 of the booklet contains a footnote 'built by Captain Albert Smith, Late Merchant Navy 1960'.  The same Albert Smith was interviewed, seemingly in Easton, by Anglia TV in 1962 on the 50th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic.  He gives and account of passing by the Titanic on the fateful night and sending a warning message from his ship, the 'Rappahannock,' to the Titanic about icebergs in the area.
